Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Decline Wednesday Afternoon

01:38 PM EDT, 03/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were slipping Wednesday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index down 0.3% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) easing 0.2%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) decreased 0.7%.

In corporate news, Stryker (SYK) is facing a global outage across its systems, and staff and contractors have said an Iran-linked hacking group's logo has appeared on login pages, The Wall Street Journal reported. Stryker shares were down 3.9%.

Sonida Senior Living ( SNDA ) said Wednesday it has completed its merger with CNL Healthcare Properties in a cash-and-stock deal valued about $1.8 billion. Sonida shares were falling over 6%.

Kala Bio ( KALA ) shares jumped 24% after the company said its Researgency.ai platform is now live, with the first AI agent expected to be deployed in about 14 days.
