Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Flat to Higher Pre-Bell Thursday

09:16 AM EDT, 09/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were flat to higher pre-bell Thursday, with the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) inactive and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLV ) up 0.5%.

Centene ( CNC ) stock was up more than 14% after the health insurer said in a regulatory filing that its business and financial results through August are consistent with its 2025 forecast of about $1.75 in adjusted diluted earnings per share.

Maze Therapeutics ( MAZE ) shares were up more than 50% after the company said its early-stage study of MZE782, an oral small molecule targeting the solute transporter SLC6A19, demonstrated proof of mechanism and supports advancing to phase 2 trials for the potential treatment of phenylketonuria and chronic kidney disease.

KalVista Pharmaceuticals ( KALV ) shares were up more than 7% after the company reported a fiscal Q1 net product revenue that topped analysts' expectations.
