The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1%.
In corporate news, Bristol-Myers Squibb ( BMY ) obtained approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for its Cobenfy drug to treat schizophrenia in adults. The shares rose 2.7%.
Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) shares fell 3% as JP Morgan analyst Richard Vosser said in a note that the drugmaker's Q3 financial results may cause "some disappointment," according to media reports. Vosser cited the possibility of weaker-than-expected Q3 sales figures for the company's weight-loss drug Wegovy, according to the reports.
Estrella Immunopharma ( ESLA ) shares jumped 14% after the company said a patient receiving its EB103 therapy achieved complete response in an ongoing trial.
