09:15 AM EDT, 07/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were mixed pre-bell Thursday with the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLV ) 0.3% lower and the iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) advancing by 0.2% recently.

Abbott Laboratories ( ABT ) shares were down 6% after the company narrowed its 2025 adjusted earnings guidance to between $5.10 to $5.20 per diluted share, from a previous range of $5.05 to $5.25. The company also issued Q3 adjusted EPS outlook below analysts' expectations.

Sarepta Therapeutics ( SRPT ) shares were advancing by more than 27% after the company said it is launching a restructuring plan that includes cutting expenses, delivering $400 million in annual cost savings. The company said the plan includes a 36% workforce reduction of about 500 employees.

Elevance Health ( ELV ) shares were down more than 2% after the company reported a decline in Q2 adjusted earnings.
