Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Rise in Afternoon Trading

01:54 PM EDT, 03/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index adding 0.8% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) up 0.6%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) rose 0.5%.

In corporate news, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals ( REGN ) shares fell 2.5% after media reports said that a US appeals court denied the company's request to block sales of biosimilar versions of its drug Eylea.

Sutro Biopharma ( STRO ) said late Thursday it appointed Jane Chung as its new chief executive and plans to nearly halve its workforce, following a strategic review of the company's portfolio. Its shares dropped nearly 30%.

Tiziana Life Sciences ( TLSA ) shares added 2.1% after it said Friday it regained compliance with Nasdaq's minimum bid price requirement.
