Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Rise Late Afternoon

03:58 PM EST, 11/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks advanced late Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) each rising 0.7%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1.1%.

In corporate news, Dentsply Sirona ( XRAY ) shares sank 27% after the company lowered its 2024 guidance.

Celularity ( CELU ) shares soared 117%. The company said Thursday that it raised its full-year net sales outlook to a range of $54 million to $60 million, from the $50 million to $56 million forecast in February.

Ligand Pharmaceuticals ( LGND ) shares jumped 10% after the company reported higher Q3 results and raised its 2024 guidance.

GoodRx ( GDRX ) shares tumbled 17% after the company reported Q3 results that improved year-over-year but trailed analyst projections and issued revenue guidance that lagged Wall Street expectations.
