The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1.4%.

In corporate news, Know Labs ( KNW ) shares more than doubled. The company agreed to sell a controlling stake to fintech investor Greg Kidd's affiliate Goldeneye 1995, with Kidd set to become chief executive officer and chairman.

Phathom Pharmaceuticals ( PHAT ) shares almost doubled after the US Food and Drug Administration granted 10 years of exclusivity for the company's Voquezna tablets.

Omada Health (OMDA) shares jumped 24% in their Nasdaq debut after the virtual health-care provider priced its initial public offering of 7.9 million shares at $19 apiece.

Novo Nordisk's ( NVO ) obesity and diabetes drug semaglutide may increase the risk of vision loss, a "very rare side effect," the European Medicines Agency said. Novo shares rose 3%.
