Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Slump Wednesday Afternoon

01:52 PM EDT, 04/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks fell Wednesday afternoon with the NYSE Health Care Index dropping 1% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) down 1.3%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) retreated 2%.

In corporate news, Mobile-health Network (MNDR) shares jumped in their debut Wednesday on the Nasdaq after the company priced its initial public offering of 2.25 million class A shares at $4 apiece. The stock surged more than 72% in recent trading.

Alpine Immune Sciences ( ALPN ) is weighing multiple options, including a potential sale, after attracting takeover interest, Bloomberg reported. Alpine shares jumped 12%.

Labcorp (LH) said Wednesday it received the US Food and Drug Administration's emergency use authorization for its Mpox PCR Test Home Collection Kit for diagnosing infections with non-variola orthopoxvirus, including the monkeypox virus. Its shares were falling over 1%.
