Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Softer Thursday Afternoon

01:49 PM EST, 12/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Health care stocks were declining Thursday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index shedding 0.8% and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) down 0.6%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) fell 1.3%.

In corporate news, Trevi Therapeutics ( TRVI ) shares surged past 73%. The company said Thursday that enrollment in its phase 2b study of investigational therapy Haduvio in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with chronic cough has reached 75% of the targeted sample size of 160 patients.

Aptevo Therapeutics ( APVO ) shares sank near 40% after the company announced the exercise of warrants at a discount.

Keros Therapeutics ( KROS ) shares plunged 73% after the company said it voluntarily halted dosing in the 3 mg/kg and 4.5 mg/kg treatment arms of a phase 2 trial of cibotercept plus background therapy in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
