Sector Update: Healthcare Stocks Higher Late Afternoon

03:35 PM EDT, 07/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Healthcare stocks rose late Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index up 0.6% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) adding 0.7%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) decreased 0.3%.

In corporate news, Tenet Healthcare ( THC ) shares surged past 17% after it posted higher Q2 adjusted earnings and revenue, and raised its 2026 guidance.

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) is seeking a preliminary US court injunction to immediately block advertising by Eli Lilly ( LLY ) for its obesity and diabetes drugs, escalating the companies' legal dispute over weight-loss drug marketing, Reuters reported Friday. Novo shares rose 1.9%, and Lilly was up 0.6%.

Profound Medical ( PROF ) said new data from a Level 1 evidence trial of its MRI-guided Tulsa procedure demonstrated statistically significant superiority over robotic radical prostatectomy in men with intermediate-risk prostate cancer. Its shares jumped past 8%.

Lisata Therapeutics ( LSTA ) shares fell 16% after the company said it has terminated its planned merger with Kuva Labs.
