03:25 PM EST, 12/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were lower late Thursday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) decreasing 0.5% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) down 0.9%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index shed 0.9%.

In corporate news, Apple ( AAPL ) is planning to switch to a homegrown chip for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections for its devices next year, a move that will replace some parts provided by Broadcom ( AVGO ) , Bloomberg reported. Apple ( AAPL ) shares rose 0.5%, and Broadcom ( AVGO ) fell 1.3%.
