01:36 PM EST, 02/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher Tuesday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) rising 0.6% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) climbing 2.8%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 1.4%.

In corporate news, Intel ( INTC ) shares jumped past 10% after the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) and Broadcom ( AVGO ) are considering pitching deals to buy separate pieces of Intel ( INTC ). Taiwan Semiconductor shares fell 1%, and Broadcom ( AVGO ) dropped 2.4%.
