01:40 PM EDT, 03/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher Wednesday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) rising 0.8% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 0.7%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index was up 0.5%.

In corporate news, the European Commission said Tuesday it has notified Alphabet (GOOG) that its preliminary findings show two of the tech giant's services fail to comply with the EU's Digital Markets Act. Separately, the Commission said it has adopted two decisions under the DMA specifying requirements Apple ( AAPL ) must meet in order to comply with its interoperability obligations. Alphabet shares were rising 1.1%, and Apple ( AAPL ) was up 0.8%.
