03:36 PM EDT, 06/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher late Monday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) rising 1.1% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 0.2%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index eased 0.1%.
In sector news, the EU will not consider any changes to its landmark rules against targeting Big Tech overreach during its trade negotiations with the US, Reuters reported Monday, citing comments made by an EU spokesperson at a news conference. The bloc's Digital Markets Act seeks to rein in the power of Alphabet (GOOG), Apple (AAPL), Meta (META) and Microsoft (MSFT), as well as China's ByteDance, among others, while the Digital Services Act requires major online platforms to do more to curb illegal and harmful content, the report said.
In corporate news, Meta (META) Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said the company is reorganizing its AI group with a focus on developing AI "superintelligence," referring to systems that can perform tasks as well as or better than humans, Bloomberg reported, citing an internal memo. Meta shares added 0.6%.
