The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 0.6%.

In corporate news, Alphabet (GOOG) increased the size of its US dollar corporate bond sale to $17.5 billion from an initial estimate of $15 billion, Bloomberg reported. Alphabet shares climbed 1.2%.
