The Philadelphia Semiconductor index was fractionally higher.
In corporate news, Meta Platforms ( META ) said Monday it is allowing US government agencies and contractors to use its open-source Llama artificial intelligence models for defense and national security applications. Meta shares were falling 1%.
Phunware ( PHUN ) said Monday that Chief Financial Officer Troy Reisner plans to step down between Nov. 15 and Nov. 30. Its shares retreated 1%.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares added 1.3% after S&P Dow Jones Indices said the company will replace Intel ( INTC ) in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, effective Friday. Intel ( INTC ) shares fell 2.7%.
BCE (BCE) on Monday agreed to buy US-based internet provider Ziply Fiber in a deal totaling about 7 billion Canadian dollars ($5.04 billion), including debt. BCE shares slumped past 9%.
