Broadcom ( AVGO ) shares rose past 5% after the company said its board authorized a share repurchase program to buy back up to $10 billion of common shares.

United Microelectronics ( UMC ) shares were up over 4% after the company reported that its net sales were 19.86 billion New Taiwan dollars ($601.2 million) in March, up 9.3% from a year earlier.

IBM ( IBM ) shares were over 2% higher after the company said it has released the z17, the latest version of its computer mainframe.
