The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 2.8%.

In corporate news, Intel ( INTC ) has agreed to provide a 10% stake to the US worth $10 billion, President Donald Trump told reporters Friday at the White House, according to a Bloomberg report. Intel ( INTC ) shares jumped 6.2%.

Zoom Communications ( ZM ) shares surged 13% after the video communication platform boosted its full-year outlook and reported a surprise increase in Q2 earnings.

Alphabet's (GOOG) Waymo received approval from the New York City Department of Transportation to begin testing autonomous vehicles in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn. Alphabet shares rose 2.8%.

Apple ( AAPL ) is in early talks about using Alphabet's Google Gemini AI to power a retooled version of the Siri voice assistant, Bloomberg reported. Apple ( AAPL ) shares added 1.3%.
