01:27 PM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were lower Monday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) falling 1% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) dropping 1.4%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index was shedding 0.7%.
In corporate news, Apple ( AAPL ) shares were down 1.6%. The tech giant lost a trial on Friday over whether it violated Masimo's (MASI) patents in some of its Apple Watch models and was ordered to pay $634 million in damages, news outlets reported.
Alphabet (GOOG) shares were rising 3.4% after Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A) disclosed Friday a $4.33 billion stake in Google's ( GOOG ) parent company as of Sept. 30.
Subsea internet cable projects that are supposed to go through the Red Sea, such as those of Meta Platforms ( META ) and Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ), have been delayed due to security risks in the region, Bloomberg reported. Meta shares were down 0.7%.
