Sector Update: Tech Stocks Decline Premarket Friday

09:24 AM EDT, 08/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Technology stocks were declining premarket Friday, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) down 0.3% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) 0.2% lower.

Applied Materials ( AMAT ) stock was down more than 13% after the company issued fiscal Q4 guidance below market expectations, overshadowing its fiscal Q3 earnings and revenue beat.

The Trump administration is discussing a government stake in Intel ( INTC ) to support the chipmaker's delayed Ohio manufacturing facility, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Intel ( INTC ) shares were up more than 4% pre-bell.

CoreWeave ( CRWV ) shares were down more than 6%, extending Thursday's 15.5% decline, as the company's initial public offering lockup period expires Aug. 15. The company reported its Q2 earnings on Tuesday, and its stock fell 33% through Thursday as investors anticipated a flood of stock sales, Bloomberg reported, citing analysts.
