01:40 PM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were lower Thursday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) down 0.5% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) falling 1.1%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index decreased 0.8%.
In corporate news, Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said Thursday it launched AI-backed conversational platform Gemini Enterprise, which it said is built with Google's ( GOOG ) most advanced Gemini models. Alphabet shares were down 1.6%.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares added 1.9% after the company said it secured approval to export "several billion dollars" worth of AI-compatible chips to the United Arab Emirates, Bloomberg reported.
Unisys ( UIS ) shares rose 3.7% after it said Thursday it was selected by the European Commission to lead cybersecurity services under the EU's Cybersecurity Professional Services Framework contract.
