The Philadelphia Semiconductor index was fractionally higher.
In corporate news, Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has been developing its next major model using several thousand Nvidia ( NVDA ) Blackwell chips that were smuggled into China, The Information reported. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares were down 1.2%.
Meta (META) Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg is directing the company toward an AI model that the company can make money off of and away from open-source models, Bloomberg reported. Separately, Meta is planning to raise prices on its virtual-reality devices, Business Insider reported. Meta shares were declining 1.8%.
Alphabet's (GOOG) YouTube TV will introduce at least 10 new genre-specific subscription packages in early 2026. The plans are designed to give subscribers "more choice" and will allow viewers to stay with the main package or select sports, news, family, or entertainment bundles, the company said Wednesday in a blog post. Alphabet shares were down 0.3%.
