Sector Update: Tech Stocks Edge Higher Premarket Friday

09:12 AM EST, 01/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Technology stocks were edging higher premarket Friday, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) up 0.9% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) advancing by 0.5%.

Wipro ( WIT ) stock was down more than 7% after the company reported a decline in fiscal Q3 earnings.

Qnity Electronics ( Q ) shares were up more than 1% after the company said Matt Harbaugh has stepped down as chief financial officer due to health reasons. Qnity also reaffirmed its full-year 2025 net sales guidance of about $4.7 billion.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) said it supports the US-Taiwan trade agreement, Agence France-Presse reported, citing the company. Shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) were 1% higher pre-bell.
