01:43 PM EDT, 03/27/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were lower Friday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) falling 1.6% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) dropping 2.6%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index shed 1.5%.
In corporate news, Apple ( AAPL ) awarded out-of-cycle bonuses to many members of its iPhone Product Design team, Bloomberg reported. The bonuses, granted as stock units that vest over four years, are aimed at retaining engineers amid increased recruiting pressure from AI startups. Apple ( AAPL ) shares declined 1%.
Entergy (ETR) unit Entergy Louisiana said it has agreed to an expanded power supply contract with Meta Platforms ( META ) to support its Northeast Louisiana computing facility. Meta shares were down 4.4%.
Super Micro Computer ( SMCI ) sold servers with restricted AI chips to four Chinese universities over the last year, including two linked to the People's Liberation Army, Reuters reported Friday, citing procurement data. Super Micro lost 3%.
