The Philadelphia Semiconductor index slumped 4.9%.
In corporate news, Apple's ( AAPL ) subsidiary in Ireland, Apple Distribution International, is facing a 390,000 British pounds ($516,093) penalty in the UK for violations of the sanctions against Russia, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation said Monday. Apple ( AAPL ) shares were down 1.1%.
CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) shares gained 2.5% after Wolfe Research upgraded the cybersecurity company's stock to outperform from peer perform.
Meta Platforms ( META ) trades at a 55% price/earnings-to-growth discount to peers, with agentic catalysts like MetaClaw potentially driving revisions and re-rating, Morgan Stanley said in a note. Meta shares rose 1.7%.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Monday it rolled out a new feature called "Critique" under its Copilot Researcher AI agent that will use a combination of AI models simultaneously, using one to generate a response and the other to review and refine the output. Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares rose 0.5%.
