03:47 PM EST, 02/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher late Friday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) up 0.2% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) rising 1.2%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index climbed 1%.
In corporate news, Intel ( INTC ) said it will continue construction of its $28 billion chip factories in Ohio at a "slower pace" and now expects to complete the facilities in 2030 at the earliest. Intel ( INTC ) shares were rising 2.4%.
DoubleVerify ( DV ) shares fell past 37%. The company reported a surprise drop late Thursday in Q4 net income, and its guidance range for Q1 sales also missed market expectations. Goldman Sachs (GS) downgraded the stock to neutral from buy.
NetApp ( NTAP ) shares dropped past 16% following its quarterly results overnight. The firm "unexpectedly stumbled" in fiscal Q3 with revenue at the low end of guidance, and Q4 rebound expectations "muted," Wedbush said.
Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Friday that it will retire the Skype calling and messaging service in May to focus on its Teams offering. Microsoft ( MSFT ) shares were 0.1% higher.
