Sector Update: Tech Stocks Gain Late Afternoon

03:56 PM EDT, 03/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks rose late Wednesday afternoon with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) both gaining 1.3%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index climbed 2%.

In corporate news, Apple's ( AAPL ) delay in releasing advanced Siri capabilities means the company will have fewer features to encourage iPhone upgrades in fiscal 2026, eventually leading to a slower replacement cycle, Morgan Stanley said. Apple ( AAPL ) shares fell 2.2%.

Synchronoss Technologies ( SNCR ) shares jumped 43%, a day after the company reported a Q4 swing to a profit as net revenue climbed.

Hello Group ( MOMO ) expects Q1 revenue to fall after sales and revenue declined in Q4. The stock fell 8.4%.

Alphabet's (GOOG) Google DeepMind unit said it has introduced two new AI models based on Gemini 2.0 designed specifically for robotics. Alphabet shares were rising 1.9%.
