The Philadelphia Semiconductor index climbed 3.2%.

In corporate news, Nebius ( NBIS ) reported stronger-than-expected Q2 revenue on Wednesday as robust demand for AI capacity drove more than 500% year-over-year growth in the Dutch company's cloud business. Its shares surged 30%.

CoreWeave ( CRWV ) shares gained 19% after it posted a Q2 revenue beat and raised its full-year outlook, with analysts saying its capacity gains signal additional upside.

Super Micro Computer ( SMCI ) shares jumped 19% after the company provided an upbeat fiscal 2027 revenue outlook.

Apple ( AAPL ) has hired longtime American Airlines (AAL) executive Nate Gatten as its head of government affairs, effective Aug. 31, Bloomberg reported, citing a company memo it viewed. Kate Adams, who had served as senior vice president of government affairs, will remain in an advisory role until Oct. 1, the report said, citing the memo. Apple ( AAPL ) shares were down 1.2%.
