Sector Update: Tech Stocks Gain Premarket Friday

08:48 AM EDT, 04/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Technology stocks were gaining premarket Friday, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund ( XLK ) up 0.6% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF ( XSD ) unchanged.

Semantix ( STIX ) shares were down more than 45% after the company said late Thursday it notified the Nasdaq Stock Market of its decision to voluntarily delist its ordinary shares and warrants from the Nasdaq Global Market.

John Bean Technologies ( JBT ) shares dropped 3.3% after the company said it finalized a definitive transaction agreement related to its previously announced intention to fully acquire Icelandic food processing company Marel.

Meta (META) pushed back on the US Federal Trade Commission's bid to amend a 2020 privacy settlement concerning the company's child-friendly chat, Messenger Kids, saying it had voluntarily disclosed two technical errors in the application to the agency. Meta shares were up 1.3% pre-bell Friday.
