01:52 PM EDT, 10/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher in Tuesday afternoon trading, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) up 0.1% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) up 0.2%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index shed 0.6%.

In corporate news, Altair Engineering ( ALTR ) , an engineering software maker, is exploring a sale after receiving acquisition interest, Reuters reported. Its shares jumped nearly 8%.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) notified the US Commerce Department that one of its chips was found in a Huawei product, a possible violation of export restrictions on the Chinese company, Reuters reported. Taiwan Semiconductor shares were falling 1.5%.

Unisys ( UIS ) said in a regulatory filing Tuesday that it has reached a settlement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission regarding a previous investigation into its cybersecurity policies and disclosures. Unisys ( UIS ) shares tumbled over 6%.
