02:05 PM EDT, 09/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were mixed Wednesday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) up 0.2% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) down 0.4%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 0.5%.
In corporate news, Alphabet's (GOOG) Google ( GOOG ) submitted a complaint to the European Commission against Microsoft ( MSFT ) for alleged anti-competitive practices, saying the company locks clients into its cloud platform Azure. Alphabet shares were steady and Microsoft ( MSFT ) was adding 0.7%.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( HPE ) shares popped 4.7% after Barclays upgraded the company to overweight from equal-weight and raised its price target to $24 from $20.
SAP (SAP) and software reseller Carahsoft Technology are being probed by the US Department of Justice for potentially conspiring to inflate prices on government contracts over the past decade, particularly with the US military, Bloomberg reported. SAP fell 3%.
