The Philadelphia Semiconductor index dropped 1.2%.
In corporate news, TTEC ( TTEC ) shares soared 46.5% after the board received an unsolicited proposal from founder and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Tuchman to take the company private at $6.85 a share.
T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) agreed to make a $15.75 million cybersecurity investment and pay a $15.75 million civil penalty to the US Treasury to settle multiple investigations into data breaches, the Federal Communications Commission said Monday. T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) shares were rising 0.9%.
EchoStar ( SATS ) agreed to sell its video distribution business, which includes Dish TV and Sling TV, to satellite TV provider DirecTV in a debt-exchange deal. EchoStar ( SATS ) shares sank nearly 11%.
