The Philadelphia Semiconductor index dropped 1.8%.
In corporate news, VerifyMe ( VRME ) shares surged 22% after the company said Tuesday its board approved an extension to the expiration date of its 2024 share buyback authorization through Dec. 31, 2025.
Knightscope ( KSCP ) shares jumped 13%. The company said Tuesday it closed new contracts in 12 US states to supply its K5 autonomous security robots and K1B emergency communication devices.
Semtech ( SMTC ) shares popped nearly 18% after the company posted fiscal Q3 non-GAAP earnings, net sales, and fiscal Q4 non-GAAP EPS guidance that topped consensus estimates.
Qualcomm's ( QCOM ) takeover interest in Intel ( INTC ) is cooling due to complexities related to the potential deal, Bloomberg reported late Monday. Intel ( INTC ) shares fell 4%, while Qualcomm ( QCOM ) was down 1.4%.
