The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 0.2%.
In sector news, Nvidia's ( NVDA ) fiscal Q1 earnings are due after the bell. While AI demand around the company's Blackwell GPU microarchitecture is higher than supplies, investors will be looking at the impact of President Donald Trump's export limit on H20 chips and uncertainty related to business with China, Wedbush Securities said. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares rose 0.6%.
In corporate news, Palantir ( PLTR ) plans to collaborate with Fannie Mae to launch an AI-backed crime detection unit. The new platform will support the detection and prevention of mortgage fraud in the US housing market. Palantir ( PLTR ) shares added 0.9%.
Tempus AI ( TEM ) shares were down over 18% after short seller Spruce Point Management expressed concerns about the company's management, its AI capabilities, and financial reporting and accounting practices.
Signing Day Sports ( SGN ) said Wednesday that it has signed a definitive business combination agreement to buy One Blockchain, the operating affiliate company of data hosting firm BlockchAIn Digital Infrastructure. Signing Day shares surged 153%.
Okta ( OKTA ) shares slumped 15%. The company flagged potential risks related to an uncertain economic environment after recording stronger-than-expected fiscal Q1 results while reiterating its full-year revenue outlook.
Meta (META) has been working on plans to open physical stores and hire retail staff to support sales of smart glasses and other hardware products, Business Insider reported. Meta shares rose 0.5%.
