01:49 PM EDT, 05/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were mixed Thursday afternoon, with the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) decreasing 0.1% and the SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) up 0.5%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index fell 0.5%.

In corporate news, Equinix ( EQIX ) shares surged nearly 11% after the company late Wednesday reported that Q1 adjusted funds from operations grew more than forecast.

EPAM Systems ( EPAM ) shares plunged 26% after the company reported lower Q1 adjusted earnings and revenue and lowered its full-year revenue outlook.

Alphabet (GOOG) is in advanced talks to buy HubSpot ( HUBS ) , negotiating terms of a potential deal, Bloomberg reported Thursday. HubSpot ( HUBS ) shares rose 0.8% and Alphabet eased 0.2%.
