01:43 PM EDT, 04/06/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Tech stocks were higher Monday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) increasing 0.4% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 0.7%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor index rose 0.7%.
In sector news, SpaceX is demanding that potential investors and advisers working on its IPO buy subscriptions to Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot, the New York Times reported. Some of the banks have already agreed to spend tens of millions for the chatbot, and have integrated into their operations, the report said.
In corporate news, A Meta-backed (META) data-center project is seeking $3 billion in unconventional construction financing with lenders funding both the building and the power assets in a single transaction, the Financial Times reported. Meta shares added 0.4%.
Seagate Technology ( STX ) shares jumped past 6% after Morgan Stanley lifted the company's price target to $582 from $468 while maintaining its overweight rating.
Amazon ( AMZN )-backed (AMZN) Anthropic is being courted by the UK government to expand its presence in London, with officials preparing proposals that could include office growth and potentially a dual listing, the Financial Times reported. Amazon ( AMZN ) shares climbed 1%.
Playtika ( PLTK ) shares surged nearly 13% after the company said it is undertaking a review and evaluation of strategic alternatives across its portfolio in a bid to "enhance" shareholder value.
