The Philadelphia Semiconductor index added 0.4%.
In corporate news, Nvidia ( NVDA ) and Deutsche Telekom are preparing a 1 billion euro ($1.17 billion) German data center for AI workloads, Bloomberg reported. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares rose 2%.
Nvidia ( NVDA ) plans to make a $1 billion equity investment in Nokia ( NOK ) for a 2.9% stake in the Finnish company. Nokia ( NOK ) shares jumped 26%.
Substrate, a US startup backed by venture capitalist Peter Thiel, has developed a new chipmaking machine as it seeks to challenge the dominance of ASML ( ASML ) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing ( TSM ) in the semiconductor industry, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. ASML ( ASML ) shares were down 0.3%, and Taiwan Semiconductor was shedding 0.2%.
