Reddit ( RDDT ) advanced by 12.1% in pre-bell activity, following a 3% increase at Thursday's close. Reddit ( RDDT ) will replace AvalonBay Communities (AVB) in the S&P 500 prior to the opening of trading on Aug. 18, S&P Dow Jones Indices said.

Hertz Global ( HTZ ) was 1.9% higher hours before market open, swinging from a 16.3% fall at Thursday's close.

Applied Materials ( AMAT ) fell by 5.7% pre-bell, after a 2.5% fall from the previous session.
