Looking at pockets woth reasonable valuations: Edelweiss AMC's Trideep Bhattacharya
Trideep Bhattacharya, CIO-Equities at Edelweiss AMC, tells CNBC-TV18 he likes industrial and financial stocks, as well as direct and indirect plays on real estate. "These are areas where if you look at over the last 10-15 years, valuations are still reasonable. If you look at in the context of the capex cycle that might come through the next 2-3 years, still offer decent earnings visibility. Those are the areas actually we have been overweight and we continue to remain so," he says.
"Areas where there are higher valuations, like mid-cap IT despite the 35-40 percent correction, and some parts of consumer staples are where we see that the valuations are still on the higher side... whereas earnings visibility or the risk of downgrade might be on the higher side as well. So we are kind of avoiding those in the context of our portfolios," he adds.

HDFC Life biased towards largecaps
Prasun Gajri, Chief Investment Officer, HDFC Life said he remains cautious on the market and is more biased towards largecaps and also more defensive than earlier.
"When I say cautious, we're not trying to put a number in terms of how much the market can go down. I think the outlook is a little bit volatile, very clearly, we really don't know how earnings are going to pan out over the next two, three quarters, or if there are going to be any significant downgrades," he said.
According to Gajri, it all boils down to how inflation turns out to be. "So we'll wait for any data points to give us a better outlook," he said.
