07:31 AM EST, 11/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The benchmark US stock measures were mostly pointing higher before the opening bell Monday as investors prepare for a busy week that includes the delayed jobs report for September, minutes of the Federal Reserve's last policy meeting and Nvidia's ( NVDA ) latest financial results.
The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Nasdaq increased 0.5% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was slightly in the green in premarket activity. The S&P 500 and the Dow closed Friday lower for the second consecutive session, while the Nasdaq broke a three-day losing streak and finished in the green.
The nonfarm payrolls report for September is scheduled to be released on Thursday. The report, originally scheduled for release last month, was delayed due to the 43-day federal government shutdown, which ended last week.
Traders also await minutes of the Fed's latest policy meeting set to be released on Wednesday for clues on any new insights into monetary policy. Last month, the central bank reduced its benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points and reiterated concerns regarding the labor market.
The probability that the Federal Open Market Committee will cut interest rates by 25 basis points next month stood at 45% on Monday, with the remaining odds in favor of a no-change scenario, according to the CME FedWatch tool.
Treasury yields were down in premarket action, with the two-year rate retreating 1.4 basis points to 3.6% and the 10-year rate off 2.1 basis points to 4.13%.
Tech bellwether Nvidia ( NVDA ) is slated to release its latest earnings after the markets close on Wednesday. Retail giants Walmart ( WMT ) , Home Depot ( HD ) , TJX (TJX), Lowe's (LOW) and Target ( TGT ) are also expected to report their financial results this week.
Monday's economic calendar has the Empire State manufacturing index for November at 8:30 am ET. New York Fed President John Williams is set to speak at 9 am, while Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari speaks at 1 pm.
Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) class A and C shares increased more than 4.5% each pre-bell after Berkshire Hathaway ( BRK/A ) (BRK.A, BRK.B) disclosed owning 17.85 million shares of the Google ( GOOG ) parent in a Friday regulatory filing.
XPeng's ( XPEV ) US-listed stock declined 3.3% as the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer issued a fourth-quarter revenue outlook below analyst estimates on Monday.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil remained unchanged at $60.09 a barrel before the open. Gold decreased 0.4% to $4,078 per troy ounce, while bitcoin inclined 1.2% to $95,354.
