The Indian equity benchmark indices edged higher in the afternoon trade on Thursday driven by banking, metal and energy stocks ahead of the release of macroeconomic data. At 12:10 pm, the BSE Sensex was at 37,318.44, up 47.62 points or 0.13 percent and the Nifty was trading at 11,047, up 11.30 points or 0.10 percent. Whirlpool's shares rose 0.73 percent to a 52-week high of Rs 1,669.10.
Apollo Hospitals share price surged 5.52 percent to a 52-week high of Rs 1,579.70 per share.
