Indian shares plummeted over two percent on Thursday, amid sustained selling across all sectors.

Benchmark indexes were particularly dragged lower by oil and energy stocks towards the end as the centre announced excise cut, which will be shared by state oil marketing companies to provide some relief to the common man from rising petrol and diesel prices.

The BSE Sensex closed down 2.24 percent at 35,169.16, while the NSE Nifty 50 ended 2.39 percent lower at 10,599.25, in its biggest percentage fall since November 11, 2016.

Here's a list of stocks that trended among the most in the market today:

ICICI Bank: The private sector lender's shares ended at Rs 316, recovering from the day's low of Rs 294.80. The ICICI Bank's board on Thursday accepted Chanda Kochhar's request to seek early retirement. The board has appointed Sandeep Bakhshi as the bank's managing director and chief executive officer for five years with effect from October 3.

HPCL: Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd tanked more than 20 percent to end at Rs 199.90. It hit a 52-week low of Rs 192.25.

Eicher Motors: Shares hit its 52-week low of Rs 20,001.15 in trade today. It closed at Rs 21,500, sharply lower by 7.47.

TCS: Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) ended 4.62 percent lower at Rs 2,063 in trade today.

BPCL: Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd hit its 52-week low of Rs 303.85, eventually settling at Rs 306.50, falling by 18.88 percent at close.

Hathway Cables: Shares of broadband services provider, Hathway Cable and Datacom Ltd, climbed as much as 6.3 percent to Rs 29.50, their highest since June 22. It quoted at Rs 27.20 at end, down by 1.98 percent.

Reliance Industries: The oil-to-telecom conglomerate ended up being the top Nifty loser after oil marketing companies today. Shares ended at Rs 1,108.50, sharply lower by 8.02 percent.

IOC: The Indian Oil Corp. shares plunged 18.24 percent to end at Rs 129.50, after touching its 52-week low of Rs 126.75.

Dr Reddy's Labs: The pharma company's shares quoted at Rs 2,365.05, down by five percent, losing Rs 124.50 at close.

HDFC Bank: Shares closed 4.24 percent lower at Rs 1,945, recovering marginally from the day's low of Rs 1,943. The stock had opened at Rs 2,008.
