Top Cryptocurrencies Drop; Bitcoin Falls to $65,000 Level

04:09 PM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Major digital assets dropped Wednesday with Bitcoin (BTC-USD) falling back below $66,000.

The CoinDesk Market Index, which tracks 134 digital assets, fell 0.1% in the past 24 hours. The Nasdaq 100 rose 2.6%, the S&P 500 climbed 1.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.2%.

Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was down 1.2% at $65,127, with a 24-hour trading volume of about $28.86 billion, down 7%, according to CoinMarketCap data.

Ethereum (ETH-USD), the second-largest digital asset, lost 0.4% to $3,258.

BNB (BNB-USD), the third-largest digital asset by market value excluding stablecoins, gained 1.3%, while Solana (SOL-USD), the fourth-largest, dropped 0.9%.

XRP (XRP-USD) climbed 0.6%, while Cardano (ADA-USD) was down 1.4% and Dogecoin (DOGE-USD) lost 1.9%.

The US 10-year Treasury yield closed at 4.103%, down from Tuesday's close of 4.169%, while the five-year yield closed at 3.993%, down from 4.061%.

The total market value of the cryptocurrency industry shed 0.5% in the past 24 hours to $2.35 trillion. Trading volume fell 4.1% to $64.08 billion.
