02:30 PM EDT, 08/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Super Micro Computer's ( SMCI ) shares slumped 20% amid heavy trading as the company reported fiscal Q4 adjusted profit that trailed analysts' projections.
More than 14.1 million shares traded intraday compared with a daily average of about 6.33 million.
Airbnb's ( ABNB ) Q2 earnings performance was "tough" due to slower demand and increased marketing expenses, RBC Capital Markets said in a note Wednesday. "We believe the company is facing a textbook multiple compression situation driven by higher marketing spend into slowing demand." Shares slumped 15%, joining the laggards on the two indexes.
Shares sank 15% as intraday trading volume catapulted to more than 22.1 million versus a daily average of about 4.4 million.
Emergent BioSolutions ( EBS ) shares fell after the company's Q2 net loss widened from a year earlier.
Shares plunged 43% as intraday trading volume soared to over 5.9 million versus the stock's daily average of about 2.6 million.
