Top Midday Stories: Amazon Shares Rise After Strong Earnings; Apple Fiscal Q4 Results Beat Estimates

11:36 AM EDT, 10/31/2025 (MT Newswires) -- All three major US stock indexes were up in late-morning trading Friday as investors digested strong earnings reports from Amazon.com ( AMZN ) and Apple ( AAPL ) .

In company news, Amazon ( AMZN ) reported Q3 earnings late Thursday of $1.95 per diluted share, up from $1.43 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus analyst estimate of $1.57. Third-quarter revenue was $180.17 billion, up from $158.88 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $177.91 billion. For Q4, Amazon ( AMZN ) said it expects revenue of $206 billion to $213 billion, compared with the FactSet consensus of $208.41 billion. Amazon ( AMZN ) shares were up more than 11% around midday.

Apple ( AAPL ) reported fiscal Q4 earnings late Thursday of $1.85 per diluted share, up from $0.97 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.78 a year earlier. Fiscal Q4 revenue was $102.47 billion, up from $94.93 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $102.23 billion. Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh said the company's December quarter revenue is expected to rise by 10% to 12% year over year, while iPhone revenue is projected to rise by double digits. Apple ( AAPL ) shares were down 0.1%.

Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) reported Q3 earnings Friday of $1.76 per diluted share, down from $1.92 a year earlier and below the FactSet consensus of $1.77. Total Q3 revenue was $85.29 billion, down from $90.02 billion a year ago and below the FactSet consensus of $86.47 billion. Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) shares were down 0.5%.

AbbVie ( ABBV ) reported Q3 adjusted earnings Friday of $1.86 per diluted share, down from $3.00 a year earlier but above the FactSet consensus of $1.77. Net Q3 revenue was $15.78 billion, up from $14.46 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $15.59 billion. For full-year 2025, AbbVie ( ABBV ) said it now expects adjusted EPS in a range of $10.61 to $10.65, up from its prior guidance of $10.38 to $10.58. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect $10.51. The board also increased the quarterly cash dividend to $1.73 per share from $1.64, starting with the dividend to be paid on Feb. 17 to shareholders of record as of Jan. 16. AbbVie ( ABBV ) shares were down 3.8%.

Chevron ( CVX ) reported Q3 adjusted earnings Friday of $1.85 per diluted share, down from $2.51 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.71. Total Q3 revenue was $49.73 billion, down from $50.67 billion a year ago but above the FactSet consensus of $47.23 billion. Chevron ( CVX ) shares were up 3.2%.

Meta Platforms ( META ) filed a prospectus Thursday to raise up to $30 billion through a six-part bond sale with maturities ranging from 2030 to 2065. Meta shares were down 1.3%.
