Top Midday Stories: Dun & Bradstreet to Be Acquired by Clearlake in $7.7 Billion Deal; 23andMe Files for Chapter 11, CEO Resigns

11:44 AM EDT, 03/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- All three major US stock indexes were up over 1% in late-morning trading on Monday as Wall Street reacted warmly to weekend reports that President Donald Trump may refrain from implementing some of his wide-ranging tariff plans.

In company news, Dun & Bradstreet Holdings ( DNB ) has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Clearlake Capital Group in a deal valued at $7.7 billion, Clearlake said Monday. Under the terms of the deal, which is expected to close in Q3, Dun & Bradstreet ( DNB ) shareholders will receive $9.15 per share in cash, Clearlake said. Dun & Bradstreet ( DNB ) shares were up 2.9% around midday.

23andMe (ME) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday to help facilitate a potential sale, while Anne Wojcicki resigned from her post as chief executive. Wojcicki will continue to serve on its board, the company said. Chief Financial and Accounting Officer Joe Selsavage was named interim CEO. 23andMe shares were down 51.0%.

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said Monday it has agreed to pay up to $2 billion for the exclusive rights for a triple receptor agonist in early-stage clinical development for the treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes and other diseases. Under the terms of the deal, Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) will obtain the worldwide rights -- excluding the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan -- to develop, manufacture and commercials the drug, called UBT251, from United Bio-Technology, which is eligible to receive $200 million upfront and potential milestone payments totaling $1.8 billion. Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) shares were down 1.8%.

Roper Technologies ( ROP ) said Monday it has reached an agreement to acquire Central Reach from Insight Partners for about $1.65 billion, including a $200 million tax benefit. The deal is expected to close in April or May, Roper said. Roper shares were up 0.7%.

Nippon Steel and the US government are in active discussions regarding the Japanese steelmaker's proposed acquisition of US Steel (X), Reuters reported Monday, citing Nippon Steel President Tadashi Imai. A mutual understanding is developing that the deal would strengthen the steel industry in the US, Imai reportedly said. U.S. Steel shares were up 2.3%.

China's BYD reported 2024 operating revenue Monday of 777.10 billion Chinese renminbi ($107.20 billion), up from 602.32 billion renminbi the year prior and topping Tesla's (TSLA) 2024 sales of $97.69 billion. Tesla shares were up 9.2%.
