11:48 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 were down in late-morning trading Thursday, while the Nasdaq Composite was up, as investors digest Nvidia's ( NVDA ) latest earnings results and look ahead to the publication of the latest personal consumption expenditures index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, on Friday.
In company news, Nvidia ( NVDA ) reported Q2 adjusted earnings late Wednesday of $1.05 per diluted share, up from $0.68 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus analyst estimate of $1.01. Second-quarter revenue was $46.74 billion, up from $30.04 billion a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $46.05 billion. For Q3, the company said it expects revenue of $54 billion, plus or minus 2%, while analysts expect $53.43 billion. Separately, Chief Executive Jensen Huang said he is in talks with the Trump administration about selling the company's Blackwell artificial intelligence chips to China and his willingness to give the US government a cut of the sales, Fox Business' Liz Claman said Thursday in a post on X, citing a forthcoming interview with the CEO. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares were down 1.1% around midday.
Snowflake (SNOW) reported fiscal Q2 non-GAAP earnings late Wednesday of $0.35 per diluted share, up from $0.18 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $0.27. Fiscal Q2 revenue was $1.14 billion, up from $868.8 million a year earlier and above the FactSet estimate of $1.09 billion. For Q3, the company expects product revenue of $1.12 billion. For fiscal 2026, Snowflake expects product revenue of $4.395 billion, up from its previous guidance of $4.325 billion. Analysts expect $4.34 billion. Snowflake shares were up 18.6%.
CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) reported fiscal Q2 non-GAAP net income late Wednesday of $0.93 per diluted share, up from $0.88 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $0.83. Fiscal Q2 revenue was $1.17 billion, up from $963.9 million a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $1.15 billion. For fiscal Q3, the company expects non-GAAP EPS of $0.93 to $0.95 on revenue of $1.21 billion to $1.22 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expect EPS of $0.91 on revenue of $1.23 billion. Snowflake also raised its full-year EPS guidance to $3.60 to $3.72 from $3.44 to $3.56 on revenue of $4.75 billion to $4.81 billion, up on the low-end of the range from $4.74 billion. Analysts expect $3.52 EPS on revenue of $4.78 billion. CrowdStrike ( CRWD ) shares were up 2.9%.
Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) said Thursday it will invest an additional $9 billion in Virginia through 2026 to enhance its cloud and AI infrastructure, including a new data center in Chesterfield County. Alphabet shares were up 1.8%.
Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) reported fiscal Q2 non-GAAP earnings Thursday of $4.38 per diluted share, up from $4.37 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $4.30. Fiscal Q2 net sales were $3.65 billion, up from $3.47 billion a year earlier and above the FactSet estimate of $3.61 billion. For fiscal 2025, the company raised its EPS guidance to a range of $13.90 to $14.50 from its previous guidance of $13.80 to $14.40. Analysts expect $14.24. For full-year net sales, Dick's now expects $13.75 billion to $13.95 billion, up from its prior outlook of $13.6 billion to $13.9 billion. Analysts expect $13.93 billion. Shares of Dick's were down 6.2%.
Toronto-Dominion Bank ( MLWIQXX ) reported fiscal Q3 adjusted earnings Thursday of 2.20 Canadian dollars ($1.60) per diluted share, up from CA$2.05 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of CA$2.05. Fiscal Q3 adjusted revenue was CA$15.61 billion, up from CA$14.24 billion a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of CA$13.74 billion. TD Bank shares were down 3.9%.
