The key Indian equity indices surged around one percent on Friday supported by a rise in banking stocks and easing crude oil prices, with the BSE Sensex closing over 360 points higher.

The Sensex settled at 35,673.25, up 361.12 points or 1.02 percent from its previous close, while the Nifty 50 gained 92.55 points or 0.87 percent to end at 10,693.70.

For the week, however, the Sensex and Nifty dipped 1.4 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively. Among broader market indices, the Nifty MidCap index slipped 2.6 percent this week. The Nifty Bank was also down by 0.8 percent. The biggest losers this week among sectoral indices were Nifty Pharma, Auto, Metal and PSU Banks.

Nifty Gainers

Hindustan Unilever: The FMCG major was the biggest move on Nifty, surging 4 percent after the company announced its deal with GSK Healthcare. Shares ended at Rs 1,825.15, up by 1.31 percent on Friday.

Kotak Mahindra Bank: Shares settled nearly 9 percent higher on Friday at Rs 1,284.55, after surging 13 percent intra-day, on reports of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathway considering buying a stake in the lender. Friday's rally lifted the stock 3.7 percent for the week.

Wipro: The IT stock is up 2.7 percent this week with the share settling at Rs 333.35, rising 0.51 percent.

Adani Ports: The Adani Group company shares gained 2.1 percent. The shares quoted at Rs 374, higher by 2.76 percent.

Infosys: Shares gained 2 percent this week with the IT stock ending at Rs 681, rising 1.87 percent.

Nifty Losers

Sun Pharma: The biggest loser this week with shares down 16.5 percent after reports of Sebi opening probe into a prior insider trading case. Shares ended 2.43 percent lower on Friday at Rs 409.95.

M&M: The shares of auto major ended 1.27 percent higher on Friday, quoting at Rs 720, but ended 8.8 percent down this week.

Grasim: The stock dipped 7.3 percent on a weekly basis, but ending at Rs 804, rising 1.13 percent at close on Friday.

Tata Motors: The shares touched a 52-week low of Rs 160.80 intra-day, eventually settling at Rs 162.50, marginally down by 0.09 percent. The stock erased 5.7 percent of its value this week.

HCL Technologies: The IT firm shed 5.2 percent this week and ended lower by 5 percent on Friday, quoting at Rs 961.90.
