08:53 AM EDT, 07/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures posted small gains Tuesday premarket, with sentiment stabilizing after Monday's rally, while traders digested retail sales and other economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures increased 0.2%, S&P 500 futures gained 0.2%, and Nasdaq futures were up 0.3%.

The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit fresh record highs on Monday, fueled by positive sentiment after both former president Donald Trump and President Joe Biden called for unity after a shooting that injured Trump on Saturday.

Oil prices were lower, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude down 1.5% at $83.61 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude down 1.6% at $79.52 per barrel.

Retail sales, released at 8:30 am ET, came in flat in June versus estimates compiled by Bloomberg for a 0.3% downtick. Import prices were also flat in June compared with estimates for a 0.2% decline, while export prices fell 0.5% versus estimates for a 0.1% downtick.

Business inventories, due at 10 am ET, are expected to rise 0.4% in May to add to April's 0.3% build. The consensus for the housing market index is for a no change at 43 for July.

In other world markets, Japan's Nikkei closed 0.2% higher, Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended 1.6% lower, and China's Shanghai Composite finished 0.08% higher. Meanwhile, UK's FTSE 100 declined 0.4%, and Germany's DAX index fell 0.5% in Europe's early afternoon session.

In equities, shares of Bank of America ( BAC ) were 1.7% higher pre-bell after the banking giant posted Q2 earnings and revenue that topped analysts' estimates. Silo Pharma ( SILO ) shares more than doubled after the company said it secured an exclusive global license deal for its Alzheimer's drug.

On the losing side, Trump Media & Technology Group ( DJT ) stock was down nearly 9% after the company overnight filed for the resale of about 38 million shares.
