Traders Digest Trump's Tariff Threat as US Equity Futures Rise Pre-Bell

08:15 AM EST, 02/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were higher pre-bell Monday as traders digested US President Donald Trump's latest trade salvo.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.5%, S&P 500 futures increased 0.5%, and Nasdaq futures were up 0.7%.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Sunday that he will impose fresh 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the country.

According to the president, the steel and aluminum tariffs, which will be announced Monday, will be followed by "reciprocal tariffs" on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Oil prices were higher, with front-month global benchmarks North Sea Brent crude up 1.4% at $75.69 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude up 1.5% at $72.04 per barrel.

There are no major economic data scheduled for release.
